Where:  Kim's house near Weaverville, NC - we call it The Tree House (Directions)

Facilities:  The house is about 3,000 square feet with three levels. On the first level, there is an office, a bathroom, and two family rooms. (This is headquarters for Jennifer and Todd.) One room has a pull-out sofa bed and the other has a sectional sofa.  For sitting, there are also some chairs and a loveseat. There is also plenty of carpeted floor space. The main floor has the master bedroom with a queen bed and bath. There is also a living room with another pull-out sofa bed, big kitchen and half bath.  Upstairs there is a guest room with double futon (my usual sleeping place). There is also another office and guest bath. The first and middle levels both have laundry facilities.

There is a small hot tub on the deck on the middle level at the southwest corner of the house. There is also a patio table on the deck. The second level is just higher than the trees and the view is of the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. We love watching the sunset there. See photo below.

Our west neighbor is a 30 acre forest. Our east neighbor is a 15 acre forest. The photo below and to the right is the south view. There is a neighboring house just behind the trees. Above us is a house that is also generally obscured by trees. Our road has only five houses. It is possible to walk in the woods but the incline is pretty steep and there are no trails. We generally hike elsewhere.

Transportation and parking:  Airport information and driving directions are here.

For those who are driving, there is plenty of parking. We have three driveways and a parking area down the hill beside the shed and travel trailer. Our yard is steep but the parking area is flat. (Photo at the right.)

Go here for information about Asheville. It is an incredible place to visit. You'll want to arrive early or stay late so you'll be able to take in some of the sights. We might want to do some activity as a group. Within 20 minutes, there are more possibilities than I can list but here's a sampling:

Hot Springs

Appalachian Trail

NC Arboretum

Amazing restaurants-some of the best food in the world

Explore Asheville downtown-shopping, people watching, visiting eclectic coffee shops and galleries

Guided ceremony and ritual

Dog

We have one. Her picture is to the right. A German Shepherd/Blue Heeler/ Chow pound puppy, she is very energetic, playful, and not well trained. She loves people and tends to want to socialize with new people who come into her house.
